Erin + Ryan | Holy Family Catholic Church | Luling, Louisiana

I have been rolling around so many thoughts about Erin and Ryan’s wedding this past Saturday March 21st. It was a day that was FAR from what was expected for their wedding. However, in my opinion, I don’t think it could have been any more perfect. I have a feeling this blog post is going to be a bit longer than usual as I reflect on this wedding, as I reflect on the current situation, and more importantly, as I try to reflect and listen to what God is trying to tell us!

COVID-19 has brought some strange circumstances to our everyday life. However, when we think about our life in general, we start to think about all the valley’s we go through. I believe without a doubt that although we may be walking through a low valley, there is still an abundance of positivity, blessings, and new lessons to be learned during this time.

I got in my car to head to Luling, where Erin and Ryan were getting married. It’s almost as if God has turned on the “Slow Motion” feature on his iPhone video. Ha! As I was driving, I couldn’t help but notice that it was the first time in a long time I was able to drive and not have to stress… not have to hurry up and get out of someone’s way driving 100 miles an hour….not cuss behind the wheel….. I could actually enjoy the drive.

I arrived at Erin’s parents house to start photographing some details and Erin putting on her wedding dress. There was ZERO pressure. ZERO stress. We were just laughing and truly enjoying ourselves without the big bad timeline weighing on our minds. Totally random, but can you believe all of Erin’s detail photos were taken on top of her mom’s bathtub window seal??! Haha! It was the perfect color and perfect light! Basically, it was everything I look for when setting up my detail shots! Among those details was a necklace with a very special diamond hanging from it. This diamond is Erin’s Mimi’s and she wanted to wear it for her as she said “I Do”. Although, her MiMi could not physically be present to put it on for her, Erin was able to facetime her and surprise her as her mom put it on! It was such a beautiful moment!

God is at work right now and I believe one of his many tasks is to allow people going through all different seasons of life to slow down and gain a brand new perspective on life and the way we live it. Erin and Ryan’s wedding day was just an example in the grand scheme of things. As I photographed the day, I witnessed so many things. I witnessed pure, raw emotion from the both Erin and Ryan. I witness true love and affection for one another during the toughest of times. I witnessed a MARRIAGE…. a marriage between two people absolutely PERFECT for each other. I witnessed a light. I witnessed hope. Hope that we will overcome this season and come out stronger than ever before.

The party and celebration of Mr. and Mrs. Marciante is STILL happening later once the dust settles. But I truly believe, on March 21st, Erin and Ryan enjoyed their wedding day better than they ever could have if the party would have been on the same day. Erin told me early on in the day that as they were driving by their church PRIOR to the wedding, their wedding song came on. They pulled over into the church parking lot, turned up the volume, and danced together. So they did just that after they said “I Do” in a nearly empty church. I don’t know about anyone else, but I think THAT is the pure beauty of a wedding day. So without further ado, CONGRATULATIONS to Mr. and Mrs. Marciante!! To Be Continued….. 🙂
