Allison + Justin | Outer Banks, North Carolina | Beach Wedding

Ok…whew….WHERE DO I START? Buckle up and prepare your eyes my friends because Allison and Justin’s destination wedding in the Outer Banks of North Carolina will forever be a top favorite! They had an intimate ceremony with their closest friends and family at a local beach vacation rental situated on the Atlantic coast in the small town of Kill Devil Hills, NC. It was a foggy and slightly misty day where you could just bareeeeely see the ocean. The fact that Allison and Justin traveled from their home in Michigan to have a fantastic beach extravaganza only for the ocean to try and hide from us… Well played Mother Nature. But let me tell you, these two did not skip a beat and enjoyed their day with their family and friends to the absolute fullest. Oh and SPOILER ALERT….this foggy day provided for some of the most epically awesome photos in my whole career. And to that I actually say, THANK YOU Mother Nature for blessing us with the most romantic and ethereal setting that was that foggy and misty beach!!

Preparing for this day, I am not going to lie, I was a pretty nervous nelly. But that is honestly not totally out of the ordinary considering how I am a true introvert at heart and have been since I was small. What I didn’t know though, as I pulled up to the grand beach house to prepare to photograph their rehearsal and as I noticed the handsome gentleman that Justin is waiting to greet me at the door, was that I was about to meet the most humble, joyous, kind, and amazing people. Justin showed me around and I met Allison upstairs. My nervous nelly senses finally exited out the door. See ya nerves!! This couple and their family and friends were truly the best group and I couldn’t feel more honored that I got to experience this time with them!

It was finally time for the wedding day and I am still just in awe of how amazing everything ran from start to finish. I have to give a shout out to Sarah with Forever and a Day Weddings, Dave the videographer, and my spectacular second shooter, Kimberly, with The Wyse Choice. To have never met or worked with them and for us to work so well together during this day is something I will be forever grateful for!! Allison and Justin were both getting into their wedding attire, Allison looking effortlessly stunning in her elegant gown and Justin looking snazzy in his black tux. Once the getting ready photos were complete, it was time for the two of them to share their first look together! This will forever be, hands down, my favorite part of any wedding day!! They shared an emotional first look with one another before taking a few epic portraits!

Ceremony time rolled around and I have to say its a toss up between the ring bearer dressed as Fodo Baggins and Justin and Allison’s personal, heart-felt, and sentimental vows to one another as to what my favorite part was. There was not a dry eye during the ceremony as Justin spilled his heart out to Allison. The fact that he knew he was going to lose it before ever even reading the first word and then for him to immediately chase it with his jovial and warm-spirited banter. I have to say, there hasn’t been too many instances where someone has made me cry and laugh at the very same time during a wedding ceremony!! Props to you Justin!! I loved every bit of witnessing these two commit their lives to one another with their beautiful words and sincere emotions. And to not only witness that but to also witness the people they love the most share it with them with their outpouring love and support. I am still in awe and wish over and over I could capture this day 1000 times over!!

I feel like I could write a book on these two and this day as a whole. But more than anything, I just loved their love for each other. I love the way they chose to move so gracefully throughout the day without letting a little fog and mist get to them. I loved the way they planned the day. I loved the way it all came together so effortlessly. We had planned for the two of them to take “sunset pictures” out by the ocean later on that evening. Well needless to say, the sunset didn’t happen. And on a whim I went to them and to see what they thought about going out anyway to play in the fog. They immediately asked me what I thought so I was like “hey, WHY NOT?!” “I think it could still be beautiful!”….So ALAS!! We went out and had an absolute blast on that foggy beach!! And as I mentioned earlier….it was truly EPIC!!

It goes without saying that I absolutely love my job and getting to meet amazing couples like Allison and Justin. I will FOREVER be grateful that I got to share this experience with them and capture one of the best days of their lives! So without further ado, I want to scream CONGRATULATIONS to Mr. and Mrs. Campbell!! I wish you guys many many many years of love and nothing but pure happiness together! Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for choosing me to capture this special time in your lives!!
